Accreditation with the NSW Institute of Teachers

If you are commencing teaching in NSW or are returning to teaching in NSW after an absence of 5 years or more, you will need to be accredited.

Accreditation attests that a teacher has met the  Professional Teaching Standards for one of the key stages. The accreditation decision is made by a Teacher Accreditation Authority (TAA). All accreditation decisions are recorded by the NSW Institute of Teachers.

Accreditation is to be completed at the point of employment. Information about the accreditation process can be found here .

You can go directly to the online application for accreditation form here.

The Institute will send you your accreditation number and an information package after your application for accreditation has been determined by the TAA and all paperwork forwarded to the Institute.

If you are a returning teacher or an experienced teacher who is commencing work in NSW, the documents found here may be useful to you and your school.

If you can not find the information you require on this site, or have any other questions, please call 1300 739 338 or email us.
